CHLORINE-FREE SHOCK TREATMENTS WITH OXONE

Looking for alternative step to treat swimming pools to complement chlorine? How about reducing chlorine-usage?

Oxone, by Lanxess, is a powerful oxidiser that can be used to maintain the clarity of your pool water. Using it is as easy as pouring the free-flowing Potassium Monopersulfate (KMPS) powder into your swimming pool and wait for 15 minutes of water circulation before the pool is available to be use again.

The pool industry is beginning to recognise that too much chlorine can have negative health impact, thus, there’s been a shift toward a non-chlorine shock treatment to improve pool water quality and reduce swimmer irritation.

Weekly shock treatments with Oxone has been proven to complement chlorine well. The oxidation process reduces the load on chlorine (from reacting with organic matter to form Chloramines) and allows chlorine to serve its main purpose: sanitising the pool at an optimal free-chlorine levels.

Since the 1970s, Oxone oxidising shock has been widely used in swimming pools and spas. Today, the Oxone monopersulfate compound is the most widely used non-chlorine oxidiser for pools and spas.

KEY FEATURES

  • Colour: White, free-flowing powder with minimum 4.5% by weight of available active oxygen

  • Strong peroxygen oxidant with high redox potential

  • Safety: Not flammable nor explosive, does not produce harmful fumes

BENEFITS OF OXONE OVER OTHER TREATMENT PRODUCTS

  • Does not spike Chlorine levels
Chlorine shock dose for “pool cleaning” raises chlorine levels to the upper limits and will take hours before pool can be used again. With Oxone, all it takes is 15 minutes.

  • Will not increase concentration of cyanuric acid
Certain chlorine products contain cyanuric acid stabiliser which releases chlorine over time. Oxone compound does not contribute to the stabiliser concentration.

  • Calcium hardness level will not increase
Regular usage of calcium hypochlorite as the source of chlorine increases the calcium concentration in pools, which causes scale deposits in the pool piping systems. Oxone does not contain calcium.

  • Will not cloud water
Oxone free-flowing powder dissolves quickly and dissipates thoroughly, thus does not cause water murkiness.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH OXONE CHEMISTRY IN YOUR SWIMMING POOL & SPA?
