BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE

Duro Kimia is the supplier of Benzalkonium Chloride (BKC) in Malaysia. An organic salt by nature, the product is known in many different terms ranging from Benzyl Ammonium Chloride (BAC) to Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (QUATS) [Refer below for its other trade names].

The Benzalkonium Chloride are available in two distinct grades – 50% concentration and 80% concentration – both used in a wide range of applications such as biocides, cationic surfactant and as a phase transfer agent.

KEY FEATURES

  • Available in concentrations of 50% and 80%

  • Faint almond-like odour and a bitter taste in concentrated solutions

  • Easily soluble in ethanol and acetone, tougher in water

  • Aqueous solutions are neutral to slightly alkaline

APPLICATIONS

  • Biocides or preservatives: Considered as bacterial-static, they are less harsh than other biocides available in the market hence are used in more-human friendly applications from pharmaceutical to medical industries, to common household applications as a form disinfectant

  • Cationic surfactants: Upon shaking, solutions foam. Able to dissolve lipids. They can be used in laundry detergents and treatment of garments

  • Phase transfer agent
