PROPYLENE CARBONATE
Propylene Carbonate is a cyclic carbonate ester derived from propylene oxide.
This polar aprotic solvent is an effective substitute of more hazardous traditional solvents such as MEK, methylene chloride, toluene, acetone, NMP, and perchloroethylene (PCE).
The Propylene Carbonate has a combination of properties including high solubility, stability, low toxicity and high boiling point – which makes it a sought-after ingredient in various applications such as in the manufacturing of coatings and inks, adhesives, surface cleaners, degreasers, strippers; as well as electrolytic solvent in lithium-ion batteries, in the removal of carbon dioxide from natural gas right up to personal care & cosmetics formulations.
It is classified as EPA VOC exemption.
Duro Kimia is the key supplier of Propylene Carbonate in Malaysia.
